Student + SAHM needs some advice

I have about a year left to complete my undergraduate degree - though it may take me longer because I have a 2.5 yr old, and we are a one-income family (I take classes according to my son & husband's schedule, about 3 classes a semester). I have been gone from my accounting/admin career for 3 yrs, and have lived in a new country (US, from Canada) for those 3, so my previous business contacts aren't much help. Also, I am getting a Sociology degree, because I would like to move into a different field. My quandry is that my much older husband would like us to have another baby now, and I am afraid if the pause between my degree and internships makes room for a baby, I'll never get back to work. My question is, should I leave a semester or two to complete AFTER a baby, so the transition between internships & graduation to work is smoother, or should I graduate, have a baby & then go to work? Or given my circumstances, would it not make much of a difference? This quandry has been troubling me for some time and I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks! |
