Family Budget

Family Budget

With the economy in a tailspin, many moms are finding it harder to manage the family budget than ever before.  For mothers still at work but considering staying home with their kids, now is a particularly difficult time to get the family affairs in order to make such a move.  Those of us who've stayed home for awhile face a different challenge.  We either need to find new and creative ways to balance our budget in order to maintain our family's standard of living or realize that things are just not working out in that regard and that we need to find a job.

Right now, I've taken a temporary position sitting in for the Executive Director of the Texas Book Festival. Currently, there are two positions open at the Book Festival and one of my jobs as temporary ED is to review resumes of prospective candidates for these positions.  It's not shocking to learn that we've received about one hundred resumes for just one position!  Sadly, for those women looking to go back to work after time off, that's the climate their competing in.

Since money is a huge factor in either leaving work or going back, I think it's important to look at every resource out there designed to help save money.  In the next few weeks, I'll be featuring excellent websites, articles, and books designed to help families save more.  Since I don't have a huge research staff (just me), I'd welcome any resources of which readers are aware.  Please post them here.
